An Immigrant’s Tale

Born you are in a place

So far from where you are

You come back, look around

Find out, no one’s in town

You once yearned to be back

With your friends, your family

Alas! You had to move away

They said, there was no other way

You miss everyone, oh you do!

You come back, hoping they’ll recognise you

Some do, but not much

You feel sad, your hands you clutch

'Tis so heart-breaking that this happened

That when you returned you were so saddened

The people who once loved you

Either left, or had other things to do

An immigrant's tale is so sad

So much longing, may I add

A feeling of home is never created

Though, eternally you would have waited
